#10 Whitehouse knocks off #11 Texas High in Top Ranked UIL Girls Basketball Showdown

WHITEHOUSE, Texas (TXAN 24) - In East Texas its rare that we get to witness two top ranked girls teams both from the Pineywoods meet in a game in early January; yet, that's exactly what we got Tuesday night with #10 Whitehouse Ladycats (26-0) hosting #11 Texas High Lady Tigers (15-0).

Both teams came into the game with unblemished records; and someone had to lose.

The game began with Whitehouse taking the first possession. The teams traded the lead back and forth, the home team building momentum with each bucket. Texas High was able to hush the crowd and take the lead 11-9 on the last shot of the first quarter.

Texas High would use that momentum to extend that two points lead to nine points by half time with a score of 26-17.

Whitehouse Ladycats, however, would not give up their undefeated season at home so easily. On the shots of #11 Tayla Morris, the Ladycats clawed back to trim the lead to just three points heading into the final period of play.

Tough defense and some home court crowd momentum led the Ladycats to complete the comeback and remain undefeated, moving to 27-0.
