LONGVIEW, Texas (TXAN 24) — According to Longview Fire Marshal Kevin May, firefighters responded to a structure fire at 119 Garfield Dr. around 4:30 a.m.
Officials confirmed that five people were inside the home when the fire broke out. Two individuals were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, while a man with serious injuries was transferred to a hospital in Dallas. Tragically, a woman died as a result of the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Longview Fire Department officials continue to work to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic incident.
