VIDEO: Stranded Off HWY 84 — Floodwaters Trap Residents in East Texas

PALESTINE, Texas (TXAN 24) — Parts of East Texas are surrounded by floodwaters in every direction — just off Highway 84 in Palestine. With no emergency crews in sight, the video tells the story: roads completely underwater, vehicles unable to pass, and residents with no way out.

TXAN 24 News obtained full permission to share Ashburn’s footage, which shows the intensity of the flash flooding that has cut off access to the area. The Ashburn family, like others in the region, is now stuck and waiting — hoping help comes before conditions worsen.

Local officials have yet to provide an update on when emergency services will reach residents in this part of the county. Meanwhile, those affected are relying on neighbors, social media, and outlets like TXAN to get the word out.
