TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — Another Tyler arrest is under fire after surveillance video captured a swarm of officers taking down a man in what some are calling excessive force. The arrest happened June 12th, when multiple Tyler Police Department vehicles pulled up on a man later identified as Demarcus Demon Moore. Within seconds of stepping out, officers were seen slamming Moore to the ground, despite him appearing to be under control early in the footage.
In total, more than five officers were involved in the takedown.

Moore was booked into the Smith County Jail on multiple charges, including:
Assault on a Public Servant
Obstruction or Retaliation
Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance (4g-200g)
Possession of Marijuana (<2oz)
Criminal Trespass
Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport
Evading Arrest or Detention
The video has stirred backlash online, with many in the community drawing comparisons to last month’s controversial arrest of Briana Erwin, which also sparked concerns about the department’s use-of-force policies.
No public comment has yet been made by the Tyler Police Department regarding the incident.
