HILLSBORO, Oregon (TXAN 24) — Tarleton State opened its season in commanding fashion, blanking Portland State 42-0 in a statement win Saturday. The Texans’ offense set the tone with two explosive impact plays that broke the game wide open.

Running back Tre Page delivered the highlight of the night with an 89-yard rushing touchdown, bursting through the defense and never looking back. Wide receiver Cody Jackson added his own fireworks with a 60-yard catch, showcasing Tarleton’s ability to attack both on the ground and through the air.

The defense matched the energy, keeping Portland State off the scoreboard and forcing stops in key situations. By the final whistle, the Texans had stacked together a complete performance on both sides of the ball — the kind that can set momentum for the rest of the season.

With the shutout win, Tarleton sends a message that its playmakers and physical defense will be forces to watch in 2025.
