Tanner Horner Sentenced to Death in Wise County for murder of Athena Strand

WISE COUNTY (TXAN 24) - Tanner Horner, who confessed to the November 2023 killing of 7-year-old Athena Strand, was given the death penalty sentence Tuesday by a Wise County jury.

Weeks earlier, Horner entered a guilty plea, admitting he kidnapped and murdered Strand, moving the case directly into the punishment phase of the capital murder proceedings.

The method of execution is lethal injection.
