RGV Vipers Escape Memphis in Nail-Biter

SOUTHAVEN, Mississippi (TXAN 24) — The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (2-2), the NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, pulled off a thrilling 130-125 victory over the Memphis Hustle (3-4) Wednesday at Landers Center.
The Vipers jumped out to an early 20-9 lead, but Memphis battled back to tie the game multiple times. By the fourth quarter, RGV had pushed its lead to 24 points, only to see the Hustle storm back and cut it to a single point with under 30 seconds left. Houston’s G League stars held on to secure the win.
Teddy Allen led all scorers with 36 points, shooting 67 percent from three-point range. Rockets two-way player Kevon Harris added 25 points, while Daishen Nix recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 assists. For Memphis, Charlie Brown Jr. had 23 points, Nate Hinton contributed 21, and Evan Gilyard added 17.
