OVERTON, Texas (TXAN 24) — The Overton Mustangs celebrated homecoming in dominant fashion Friday night, rolling past the Tenaha Tigers 70-28 at Chester Roy Stadium.

Despite no rain falling during the game, wet field conditions made for a slick night in Overton as the Mustangs controlled the contest from the opening kickoff.

Overton’s offense consistently found the end zone, putting together a 70-point performance while its defense limited Tenaha’s opportunities throughout the night. The Mustangs’ production on both sides of the ball allowed them to pull away and turn homecoming into a decisive victory in front of the home crowd.

Tenaha managed 28 points, but Overton’s offensive pace proved too much for the Tigers to overcome.

The victory gives Overton another strong performance as the Mustangs continue their season, while the homecoming crowd at Chester Roy Stadium watched its team finish the night with a 70-28 win.

The Mustangs will now turn their attention to their next matchup as they continue district play.
