TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — Orlando Jackson has lived boxing from every angle—amateur, pro, and now as a gym owner shaping the next generation. After years in the ring, he’s pouring everything he learned back into East Texas through OBG Fitness & Boxing, located at 986 E. Grande Blvd. in Tyler.

Jackson’s path started under legendary Troup Boxing coach Shawn Vascocu, a name that still carries weight across the region. Vascocu’s old-school toughness and deep belief in his fighters left a mark on Jackson, becoming the blueprint for how he runs his own gym today. He credits Vascocu as the inspiration behind OBG’s culture and the standard he wants to uphold.

Inside OBG, Jackson trains everyone—from first-timers throwing their very first jab to serious athletes chasing titles. The goal isn’t just fitness; it’s development. Discipline. Craft. And ultimately, Jackson says, it’s about building someone capable of putting Tyler on the boxing map.

His mission is bold but simple: produce a world champion out of East Texas.

OBG Fitness & Boxing offers structured training, technique work, cardio conditioning, and real fight IQ taught by a man who’s lived it. For Jackson, the journey from fighter to coach isn’t about stepping away from the sport—it’s about creating opportunities he didn’t have.

With the doors open on E. Grande and a growing roster of hungry fighters, Jackson is betting big on Tyler’s boxing future. And if his vision comes together, OBG may be the city’s next powerhouse in combat sports.
