COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (TXAN 24) - The Olympic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony brought out legends, laughter, and legacy Friday night — even as a few notable names were missing from the celebration.
Phil Knight, co-founder of Nike and one of this year’s most recognizable inductees, did not attend. Legendary Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, another inductee, was also absent. Gymnastics icon Gabby Douglas, known for her historic Olympic golds, was likewise not in the building. While no official statements were made on the reasons for their absence, their impact was still felt throughout the evening.
The atmosphere remained celebratory, with Olympians from across generations sharing hugs, stories, and standing ovations.
The event, held at the Colorado Hall of the Broadmoor, with on-site pre-ceremony coverage provided by TXAN 24 News.
Despite the absence of a few headline names, the night never lost its momentum. The Olympic spirit — one of perseverance, excellence, and unity — was alive and thriving.
