Austin: Growing Up & Still Waiting for Love

TYLER, Texas — Every Thursday, TXAN will partner with Nicholas Pet Haven to spotlight one incredible animal in search of a forever home. This week, we’re honored to introduce you to Austin, a six month old Dogo Argentino mix with the sweetest personality and a playful, social nature that shines through every wag of his tail.

Austin’s story began when his mother arrived at the shelter pregnant and gave birth to 10 puppies. Now, Austin is one of only two left, still waiting for his forever home as he slowly grows up in the shelter.

Despite spending his puppy months surrounded by kennels, Austin hasn’t lost his joyful spirit. He’s a silly boy who loves to run, explore, and play, especially in the yard with his kennel mates. He’s the first to chase a toy and the last to quit the game.

But when it’s time to calm down, Austin listens. He’s surprisingly gentle and settles quickly once he knows it’s time to rest.

He’s social with everyone, humans and dogs alike, and he has a heart ready to give love if someone gives him the chance. Austin is the perfect blend of energy and affection.
