TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — The National Football League is officially returning to Mexico City for regular-season games, announcing a multi-year agreement that will bring games back to the country in 2026, 2027, and 2028.

The games will be played at Estadio Banorte, formerly Estadio Azteca, one of the league’s most historic international venues. The announcement also includes an extension of the NFL’s long-standing broadcast partnership with TelevisaUnivision, which has aired NFL programming in Mexico for more than 60 years.

NFL Mexico Director General Arturo Olivé said the move reinforces the league’s deep connection with Mexican fans and its long-term commitment to growing the sport nationwide. As part of the renewed media deal, fans will continue to have access to live games and NFL programming on Canal 5 and Canal 9.

Mexico represents the NFL’s largest international fanbase, with an estimated 40 million fans, and has hosted five previous regular-season games in 2005, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022. The league has maintained an office in Mexico City since 1998 and continues to expand year-round initiatives, including NFL Flag, youth development programs, and community outreach.

The Mexico City game will be part of a record nine international NFL games in 2026, spanning four continents and seven countries. Other host cities include London, Madrid, Paris, Munich, Melbourne, and Rio de Janeiro.

Fans can register for updates on the 2026 Mexico City game through the NFL’s official website.
