NEW SERIES: Political Street Talk Brings Unfiltered Debate to TXAN 24 News

HENDERSON, Texas (TXAN 24) — It started with a single Facebook Live. Now, Political Street Talk is making its network debut on TXAN 24 News.

Created by John Ross and Jason Barr, the show was born from a spirited post-election conversation that struck a nerve and a need.

“We went live just once, but the response was wild. So we kept going,” said Barr.

Known for their often-opposing views and raw delivery, the duo balances strong opinions with mutual respect. “Our passion for real brotherhood outweighs the disagreements,” Barr added.

Ross brings 20 years of barber chair wisdom and grassroots community experience to the table.

“We talk about what really plagues our community — even the stuff most people keep behind closed doors,” he said.

What makes Political Street Talk different? “We don’t filter for people’s feelings. We speak freely — something a lot of folks can’t do because of their job or their relationship,” said Barr.

Expect episodes on political science, current events, and “barbershop talk” that ranges from family dynamics to cultural accountability. Both men say the show aims to challenge, inform, and entertain.

So why TXAN? “Because Donovan’s a visionary like us,” said Barr. Ross added, “It’s a platform run by someone real — someone who grew up like us and values stories that don’t get enough light.”
