SMITH COUNTY, Texas (TXAN 24) — The investigation into a deadly shooting at Club Exotic in Smith County has led to multiple arrests, with more expected, according to Sheriff Larry Smith.
During a Monday afternoon press conference, Smith confirmed that two individuals have been arrested in connection to the case. However, investigators are still working to determine their exact roles in the shooting.
Several others were also taken into custody on unrelated charges as the investigation unfolded.
Sheriff Smith said approximately 15 shell casings were recovered at the scene, and video evidence shows multiple individuals pulling firearms. Despite this, investigators have only confirmed evidence of a single gun being fired.
Authorities also located a suspect vehicle abandoned in North Tyler. The vehicle was recovered by Tyler SWAT and sheriff’s deputies and is now being processed as evidence.
Investigators conducted extended surveillance at the club following the shooting, which helped them identify and locate a residence connected to one suspect.
The Smith County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. Tips can be submitted by calling 903-566-6600 and asking for criminal investigations.
Anonymous tips can also be made through Smith County Crime Stoppers, with a cash reward of up to $1,000 available for information that leads to arrests.
