TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — Every Thursday, TXAN partners with Nicholas Pet Haven to spotlight one incredible animal in search of a forever home. This week, meet Major, a gentle, toy loving pup who’s watched all his siblings leave the shelter… while he continues to wait.
Major’s Story: Born in the Shelter, Deserving So Much More
Major came to Nicholas Pet Haven as a newborn, just days old, alongside his six siblings and their loving mom. They were lucky to arrive safe, but shelter life is all Major has ever known.
Over the last few months, one by one, each of his siblings has been adopted. Now, only Major and one brother remain.
At just 3.5 months old, Major is growing up in a kennel. But even behind shelter walls, he’s held onto his light. He’s incredibly sweet, soft hearted, and full of love, the kind of puppy who will melt into your arms after a good round of play.
Who Major Is Today
Major is a lab and black mouth cur mix with a mellow spirit and a playful heart. He’s gentle with people, loves all kinds of toys (especially the squeaky kind), and would thrive in a home that lets him explore, snuggle, and just be a puppy.

• Still young enough to adapt beautifully to any loving family

He’ll need to be neutered when he’s a bit older, but for now, he’s medically cleared and ready to go home today.
