
EAST TEXAS (TXAN 24) — East Texas basketball continues to shine, with five girls’ teams advancing to the UIL State Semifinals in San Antonio.
These teams have battled through tough regional competition and are now just two wins away from a state championship.
Here’s a look at the teams and their semifinal matchups:
• 2A D1: LaRue-LaPoynor (26-11) vs. San Saba (31-6)
• 2A D2: Martins Mill (33-2) vs. Goldthwaite (28-9)
• 3A D1: Winnsboro (35-3) vs. Jim Ned (34-2)
• 3A D1: Fairfield (31-6) vs. West Oso (31-5)
• 4A D1: Mabank (31-6) vs. Decatur (34-2)
Each of these programs has built a strong legacy in East Texas basketball, and they now have a chance to etch their names in the history books.
The semifinal games will take place this week at the Alamodome, with winners advancing to the state championship.
