TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — Texas requires valid licensing and insurance to operate a motorcycle on public roads.

Riders must have a Class M motorcycle license or endorsement, and motorcycles must pass yearly vehicle inspections.

Financial responsibility insurance with at least $30,000/$60,000/$25,000 coverage is required to legally ride.

Lane splitting (filtering between stopped cars) is illegal.
