FRISCO, Texas (TXAN 24) — The Texas Legends let a golden opportunity slip through their fingers Saturday night, falling 129–127 in an overtime thriller to the Oklahoma City Blue during Tip-Off Tournament play.

Texas opened the game on fire, lighting up the Blue for 43 first-quarter points and setting the tone with fast breaks, clean looks, and confident shot-making. But the Blue refused to fade. Oklahoma City answered with a steady 31-point second quarter, trimming the deficit and shifting the momentum heading into halftime.

The third quarter turned into a shootout, with the Legends dropping 41 points but the Blue responding with 26 of their own to keep things tight. By the fourth, the fireworks stalled. Texas managed just 16 points as OKC ramped up pressure and capitalized on late-game miscues to force overtime.

In the extra period, Oklahoma City executed just a little cleaner and a little calmer, outscoring the Legends 7–5 to escape with the narrow win.

Dariq Whitehead powered the Blue with a 31-point outing on 11-of-26 shooting, staying perfect from the line in clutch moments. Dalano Banton led Texas with 31 points of his own, attacking the rim relentlessly and finishing 10-for-22 from the field and 7-for-9 at the stripe.

For Texas, it’s a tough result after dominating early. But the takeaway is clear: when the offense is clicking, this team can run with anyone — they just have to close the door late.
