TEXARKANA, Texas (TXAN 24) - A routine investigation turned into a display of exceptional police work this week when Officer Cole Bredenberg and his K9 partner, Thor, helped detectives locate a crucial piece of evidence in a homicide case.
The search began after detectives sought assistance in finding the weapon used in the recent Nolthenius Street murder. The firearm was believed to be hidden somewhere in a nearby wooded area. Despite the weapon being buried under leaves and debris, Thor’s keen sense of smell led him straight to it.
“Thor wasn’t fooled for a second,” said police officials. “One sniff, and he zeroed in on the weapon.”
Authorities say Thor’s discovery could prove vital in securing justice for the victim and bringing closure to the case.
Thor, a trained K9 specializing in evidence detection, is no stranger to critical finds. This latest recovery is a reminder of the important role police dogs play in law enforcement — and how a sharp nose can make all the difference.
Texarkana Police publicly praised both Officer Bredenberg and Thor for their teamwork and dedication, noting that their swift action has given the investigation a significant boost.
