JACKSONVILLE, Texas (TXAN 24) - A traffic accident in Jacksonville took a deadly turn Tuesday night, resulting in the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old man.
According to a media release from the Jacksonville Police Department, officers and emergency personnel responded to a collision near the intersection of Myrtle Drive and Sam Boles Road at approximately 9:52 p.m. on February 13,
2025.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that one of the vehicle occupants had suffered a single gunshot wound.
The victim, identified as Angel Balderas Jr., 33, of Jacksonville, was transported to U.T. emergency room, where he was pronounced deceased.
Police detained the shooter for questioning at the Jacksonville Police Department, but no charges have been filed at this time.
Authorities have not yet released details about the circumstances leading to the shooting.
The Jacksonville Police Department stated that the case remains under investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.
