FORT WORTH, Texas (TXAN 24) — Princess Takamado visited the Japanese Garden at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden during a June 15 stop in North Texas, the garden announced Wednesday.
The princess was joined by a Japanese delegation that included Shigeo Yamada, Japan’s ambassador to the United States; Takeshi Koyama, consul-general of Japan in Houston; and Kazuyuki Yukawa of the Japan Football Association.

Garden officials and representatives of the Fort Worth Japanese Society led the delegation on a tour of the Japanese Garden, one of the botanic garden’s signature attractions. According to the garden, the space was recognized in 2024 as the most peaceful place in Texas in a study by Earth.fm.
Princess Takamado was in Texas as the honorary patron of the Japan Football Association. Garden officials said the visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to experience one of the state’s premier Japanese gardens during the trip.

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden, located in Fort Worth’s Cultural District, is Texas’ oldest public botanic garden and spans 120 acres with 23 specialty gardens, educational programs and botanical research facilities.
