Invest 93L Prompts Emergency Activation Ahead of Tropical Rain Threat

HOUSTON, Texas (TXAN 24) — Governor Greg Abbott has activated the state’s emergency response system as a developing tropical system—dubbed Invest 93L—moves closer to the Texas coast.

Forecasters predict moderate to heavy rainfall overnight, with Houston expected to receive up to one inch. Heavier totals are possible across Southeast Texas depending on how the system strengthens.

Officials are urging residents to stay alert for flooding and monitor official updates as the situation evolves over the next 24–48 hours.
