Houston Cougars Unveil Texas-Inspired Food Lineup Ahead of 2026 Football Season

HOUSTON, Texas (TXAN 24) — Houston Cougars fans heading to TDECU Stadium this season will have a new reason to arrive hungry.
Cougar Eats Co., powered by Chartwells, is rolling out a new football gameday menu featuring Texas-inspired gourmet hot dogs, specialty lemonades and chicken tenders as the University of Houston prepares for the 2026 season.
The centerpiece is Space City Franks, a dedicated hot dog stand near Gate 2 featuring seven specialty wagyu beef hot dogs served on potato buns.
The lineup includes the Steakhouse Dog with burgundy mushrooms, fried onions and steak sauce; the H-Town Dog with pepperjack mac, Hot Cheeto dust and fresh jalapeños; and the Smokehouse Dog topped with pulled pork, red onion and bread-and-butter pickles.

Other options include the Rodeo Dog with pollo asado, pico de gallo, guacamole and tortilla crisps; Nonna’s Dog with marinara, mozzarella and parmesan; the All-American Dog with chili, cheese, onions and mustard; and the Cajun Dog featuring crawfish etouffee, shoestring onions and remoulade.
Athletics General Manager Stephen Gary said the menu was developed using local and national food trends, along with purchasing data and feedback from fans.
The new offerings are also designed to reflect different regions and food traditions across Texas while incorporating Houston’s distinct culinary culture.
Fans will also find Gameday Lemonade, featuring fresh-squeezed strawberry lemonade along with peach and mango flavors. Limited-time flavors will include Lone Star Lemonade, Tajin mango and Houston Blue.

For fans looking for something beyond hot dogs, Absurd Bird will offer freshly made chicken tenders, tots, sauces, spicy pickles and vinegar slaw. The location will also feature “tatchos,” tater tot nachos served in a Houston Cougar paw souvenir bowl with chili, cheese sauce and green onions.
The new food lineup will debut at TDECU Stadium during Houston’s 2026 football season.
For Cougar Eats, the goal is simple: give fans more reasons to make the food part of the gameday experience.
