Henderson Invites East Texans to Juneteenth Parade, Free Celebration

HENDERSON, Texas (TXAN 24) — The spirit of freedom and unity will be on full display as Henderson hosts its annual Juneteenth celebration on June 21, 2025. The event, organized by local community leaders, promises a vibrant day of festivities, starting with a downtown parade at 10:30 AM, followed by family-friendly entertainment at Yates Park.


With a focus on inclusivity and heritage, the celebration will feature free food, live music, interactive games, face painting, bounce houses, and snow cones—ensuring fun for all ages. Attendees can also enjoy the excitement of the float contest, where participants vie for cash prizes by showcasing the most creative parade entry.


The parade kicks off at First Baptist Church at 10 AM, proceeding along a scenic route that highlights significant streets in Henderson, including East Main, Marshall, and MLK Boulevard, before concluding at Yates Park.


Event organizers, Elsie Bagley, Laquisha Williams, John Ross, Andre Oliver, Brian Key and Debra Childers emphasize the importance of honoring Juneteenth—a historic day marking the end of slavery in the United States.
