HBCUAC Unveils 2027 Basketball Championship Logo for Dallas Tournament
DALLAS, Texas (TXAN 24) — The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) has unveiled the official logo for the 2027 Hope Credit Union HBCUAC Basketball Championship, which will take place February 24–28, 2027, at Ellis Davis Field House and Paul Quinn College in Dallas.
The new logo pays tribute to its Texas setting, featuring a prominent star at the center as a nod to the Lone Star State. Conference officials said the star represents Texas pride, independence and ambition while also reflecting Dallas’ reputation as a major sports city.
The design incorporates oversized typography and prominent basketball imagery intended to emphasize the scale of championship week and the importance of basketball across Dallas and North Texas.
“This logo represents so much more than a tournament — it represents where we’re going as a Conference and who we’re partnering with to get there,” HBCUAC Commissioner Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes said. “Dallas is a basketball city, and this design honors that energy while staying true to who we are as an HBCU family.”
Monica Paul, executive director of the Dallas Sports Commission, said “The championship will provide another opportunity for Dallas to showcase its basketball culture”
The conference also announced the opening of sponsorship and advertising opportunities surrounding the 2027 championship. HBCUAC said its Instagram content surpassed 1 million views on three separate occasions between February 1 and May 15, highlighting its growing digital audience.
