WACO, Texas (TXAN 24) — Five East Texas high school bands are scheduled to compete Tuesday evening in the University Interscholastic League’s Class 4A State Military Marching Band Championships at McLane Stadium in Waco.

Spring Hill, Brownsboro, Van, Gilmer and Lindale high schools are listed in the evening performance schedule, with performances beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Spring Hill is scheduled to perform at 8:30 p.m., followed by Brownsboro at 8:45 p.m. Van is set for 9 p.m., Gilmer at 9:15 p.m. and Lindale at 9:30 p.m.

Each program has a designated warm-up area and preparation window before reporting to the field. The schedule gives students time to prepare and make final adjustments before performing on the state championship stage.

The competition highlights the discipline, musical precision, coordination and student leadership required in military-style marching band, as programs represent their schools and communities at the state level.

TXAN 24 News is covering the UIL state championships through its documentary project, The Sounds of State, which explores the people, preparation and performances behind Texas high school marching band competition.

For these East Texas programs, the Class 4A competition provides another opportunity to showcase the work and dedication built throughout the marching season.
