Elvis: A Survivor Searching for His Home

TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — Every Thursday, TXAN partners with Nicholas Pet Haven to spotlight one incredible animal in search of a forever home. This week, we’re honored to introduce you to Elvis, a dog who’s endured unthinkable cruelty but still believes in love.

Elvis’s Story: Tied Down, But Never Broken

In 2024, a major dog fighting ring was busted right here in Smith County. Among the many lives saved that day was Elvis. He was found tied to a treadmill, with weights strapped around his neck, a heartbreaking image of the abuse he had suffered.

He is just 2 years old, but already his short life had been filled with pain.

But Elvis didn’t let that be the end of his story.

With the help of Nicholas Pet Haven, he’s begun a new chapter, one filled with healing, belly rubs, and finally, safety. Despite everything, Elvis is full of joy, loyalty, and a heart ready to belong to someone who will never let him down again.

Elvis is the definition of a love bug. His favorite thing to do? Curl up right next to you. Or better yet, in your lap, tucked under your arm like he’s finally found where he belongs.

He’s smart, goofy, and very food motivated. If treats are involved, Elvis is all ears and paws. He’s eager to learn and loves being praised for every little victory.
