TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — East Texas pops up early in the new season of Landman, at the 7:03 mark of Episode 1, Tommy (played by Billy Bob Thornton) gets asked a pointed question:

“What are you going to do about the gas fields in Kilgore?”

Tommy doesn’t hold back.

He shrugs it off and fires back with a line only Billy Bob could deliver 😂😂:

“That’s pretty far down my list. East Texas ain’t my game — oh I know the fields are good. I just don’t want to go out there. The mosquitoes are so big they could f**k a turkey flat-footed.”

It’s classic, gritty Landman humor… and a reminder that even in fiction, East Texas stays unforgettable.

By the end of the episode, Tommy ends up making a massive play anyway; selling out for a staggering $400M.

Whether you take the mosquito joke as love, shade, or both, Kilgore and the East Texas oil patch just got a prime-time shoutout.
