FORT WORTH, Texas (TXAN 24) — East Texas cheer squads are in the D/FW Metroplex this weekend competing at the UIL State Spirit Championships, bringing top energy and school pride to the state stage.


Teams from across the region took the mat this morning and afternoon, showcasing routines they’ve perfected all season. Fans, families, and community members have turned out in full force to support their athletes as they deliver high-flying stunts, synchronized motions, and spirited performances that represent the heart of East Texas.


While several squads wrapped up competition today, the majority of East Texas teams are slated to compete tomorrow, Friday, as the three-day event continues. Day Two will feature more routines across varsity divisions with awards later in the evening.


For many of these athletes, reaching the UIL State stage is the culmination of months of tireless practice, early mornings, and a commitment to pushing through challenges together as a team.
