East Texas A&M Shut Out At Tulsa In 42-0 Loss

TULSA, Oklahoma (TXAN 24) — East Texas A&M’s football team was shut out for the first time in two years Saturday night, falling 42-0 to Tulsa at H.A. Chapman Stadium.

The Lions dropped to 1-3 on the season, while Tulsa improved to 3-0.

Tulsa jumped ahead 14-0 in the first quarter and added a 98-yard kickoff return touchdown to open the second half, extending its lead to 21-0.

East Texas A&M had opportunities to get on the scoreboard but could not finish its drives. The Lions missed a 39-yard field goal and had another possession end on a turnover on downs in Tulsa territory.

Kai Baugh recovered a Tulsa fumble in the first quarter, but the Lions were unable to turn the takeaway into points.

The shutout was East Texas A&M’s first in 24 games and its second in the last 12 years. The Lions were previously shut out in a 34-0 home loss to Sacramento State on Sept. 21, 2024.

The loss also moved East Texas A&M to 0-5 against NCAA Division I FBS opponents since moving up to the Division I level.

The Lions return to the road next Saturday, traveling to McNeese for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
