East Texas A&M Athletics Celebrates 67 Spring Graduates

COMMERCE, Texas (TXAN 24) — East Texas A&M University Athletics is celebrating 67 current student-athletes and staff members participating in Spring 2026 commencement ceremonies this weekend.
The university announced that 16 student-athletes and staff members earned graduate degrees, while 51 current student-athletes completed undergraduate programs. An additional 26 former student-athletes returned to finish their degrees.
Graduates represent multiple Lion athletic programs including football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, softball, golf, track and field, dance, and cheer. Degree fields ranged from business administration and finance to psychology, computer science, public health, and kinesiology.
Athletics officials honored the graduates during a special reception Friday morning ahead of graduate commencement ceremonies. Undergraduate commencement exercises are scheduled for Saturday in Commerce.
Several football student-athletes completed master’s degrees in Health, Kinesiology and Sports Studies, while volleyball, soccer, and golf programs also produced numerous graduate honorees.
Among notable graduates were women’s basketball player Ahmya Boyce earning a degree in Computer Science, softball player Tatum Wright graduating in Biological Sciences, and men’s golf standout Matt Walters completing a Finance degree.
East Texas A&M Athletics said the commencement ceremonies reflect the department’s continued emphasis on academic success alongside athletic achievement.
