JACKSONVILLE, Texas (TXAN 24) — The City of Jacksonville has resolved a federal lawsuit filed earlier this year, according to court records and multiple sources with direct knowledge of the matter, though city officials have not publicly disclosed the terms of the resolution.

The lawsuit, Dina Wilde v. Joe Williams, James Hubbard, and the City of Jacksonville, was filed on March 31, 2025, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The case named city officials and the municipality as defendants and remained active through much of the year.

Federal court records show the case was moving toward closure in the fall, with a magistrate judge directing the parties to submit documentation necessary to conclude the matter. No ruling on the merits of the case was issued by the court.

City records further indicate Jacksonville City Council met in a closed executive session on December 9, 2025, under Texas Government Code Section 551.071 — a provision used for consultation with legal counsel regarding pending or settled litigation. The agenda allowed for council action following the executive session, though no public details were released.

Multiple sources confirm the lawsuit was resolved through a financial settlement paid by the city. The amount and specific terms of the agreement have not been made public, and the city has not issued a statement regarding the resolution.

Under Texas law, settlement discussions and certain litigation matters may be conducted in executive session, and settlement agreements involving municipalities are not always immediately disclosed.

As of publication, the City of Jacksonville has not responded to requests for comment regarding the settlement.
