FISHERS, Indiana (TXAN 24) — The Dallas PULSE saw their four-match winning streak come to an end Saturday night, falling in straight sets to the Indy Ignite, 25-14, 25-14, 29-27, at Fishers Event Center.
Dallas (4-2) struggled to find an offensive rhythm early, as Indy (5-1) jumped out to a fast start in the opening set with a 7-2 run and never looked back. The Ignite closed the frame on a dominant 16-6 surge to take control of the match.
Outside hitter Sofia Maldonado Diaz led the PULSE with nine kills and seven digs, while Mimi Colyer added seven kills. Middle blocker Layne Van Buskirk was efficient at the net, finishing with six kills on 10 swings and posting a .500 hitting percentage. Setter Natalia Valentin-Anderson recorded 29 assists and nine digs.
Indy was powered by Kayla Lund and Lydia Martyn, who each recorded 10 kills. Martyn converted 10 of 16 attempts, while Lund paced the Ignite attack with 29 total swings.
Dallas showed resilience in the third set, rallying from a 21-17 deficit with a late 4-0 run. The teams traded momentum down the stretch, tying the score six times before Indy edged out the set 29-27 to complete the sweep.
Dallas PULSE head coach Shannon Winzer said the team lost composure during key moments but noted the match offered valuable lessons moving forward.
The PULSE return home Thursday, February 5, hosting the Omaha Supernovas at 7 p.m. CT at Comerica Center in Frisco. The match will air on The Roku Channel.
