Dallas Cowboys Superfan “Tattoo Mark” Shenefield Dies, Leaving Behind A Legacy Of Giving
DALLAS, Texas (TXAN 24) — Mark “Tattoo Mark” Shenefield, a well-known Dallas Cowboys superfan and philanthropist who dedicated years to bringing comfort to hospitalized children, has died unexpectedly, according to a news release issued Tuesday.
Shenefield was the founder of the Tattoo Mark Foundation, an organization focused on raising funds, collecting teddy bears and delivering them to sick children in hospitals. Through the effort, he sought to give children and their families moments of comfort and happiness during difficult medical circumstances.
While many knew Shenefield for his enthusiastic support of the Dallas Cowboys, his charitable work became a defining part of his legacy. His foundation’s teddy bear donations served as a tangible reminder to young patients and their families that their community cared about them.
“Mark brought smiles to all. His presence was inspiring. A true humanitarian through and through,” John Salerno said in a statement included in the release.
Shenefield’s passing represents a loss for the Dallas community and the Cowboys fan base, where his personality and commitment to philanthropy helped bring people together around a shared purpose.
The foundation’s work reflected his belief that even small acts of kindness could make a meaningful difference in the lives of children confronting serious challenges.
Memorial arrangements and information about opportunities to continue supporting Shenefield’s charitable mission through the Tattoo Mark Foundation will be shared as details become available.
As the Dallas community remembers Shenefield, his legacy will be measured not only by his passion for the Cowboys but also by the children and families who experienced comfort through his generosity.
