LUFKIN, Texas (TXAN 24) — Jerry Lynn Williams (47), an auditor from Pensacola, Florida, had been in Lufkin (Angelina County), Texas on an assignment at St. Regis Paper Company.


He had been staying at the Ramada Inn in Lufkin, where on 10-19-1981, he was last seen eating at their restaurant. On 12-30-1981, a hunter discovered the mummified body of Jerry Lynn Williams near a rural Angelina County logging road, approximately 80 yards south of Rivercrest Road and about 4 miles northeast of Lufkin.


Williams was fully clothed with his hands bound. He died from a single gunshot wound to his left temple. Investigators suspected Williams had been murdered elsewhere and dumped.


Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $3,000 to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of the person/persons responsible for this crime.
