JACKSONVILLE, Texas (TXAN 24) – In 2019, Stephanie Hassell turned her heartbreak over the loss of her beloved dog, Bella, into a mission to save countless others.
Since founding Bella’s Heart, a nonprofit dedicated to providing heart-worm prevention and treatment for low-income families, Stephanie and her team have worked tirelessly to raise awareness about the dangers of heart-worm disease and tackle the growing stray dog crisis in Cherokee County.
Now, Bella’s Heart is celebrating a major milestone: the completion of new kennels that will greatly enhance their ability to care for animals in need.

A New Chapter of Care
The newly constructed kennels provide a safe and secure environment for abandoned and stray dogs, allowing the organization to house more animals while they await medical care or placement in foster homes.
Continuing the Mission
In addition to the new kennels, Bella’s Heart remains committed to providing financial assistance for heartworm prevention and treatment, educating the public about the disease, and addressing the stray dog crisis in Cherokee County.
How to Support Bella’s Heart
Community members can help Bella’s Heart sustain its efforts by donating online at www.bellashearttexas.com or sending checks to Bella’s Heart, 3918 County Road 3305, Jacksonville, TX 75766.
Supporters can also contribute through their Amazon Wish List or Chewy Wish List to provide much-needed supplies.
With the addition of these kennels, Bella’s Heart is better equipped than ever to honor Bella’s memory and ensure a brighter future for pets and families in Cherokee County.!
