TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) - Friday night #4 ranked Bishop TK Gorman hosted Dallas Christian School as both boys basketball teams looked to leave with a win.
Dallas Christian School hopped off the bus with a mission to bring the game to the Cru and they snatched a commanding double digit lead for the majority of the first half. That is until the Cru found their rhythm and turned up the heat on defense, getting some easy transition buckets to bring the lead within single digits when the second period finally concluded.
When the teams return to the hardwood, after a rest bit, the Cru came out and grabbed the lead almost immediately led by #1 Jaylon Miles and held it until late in the third quarter--mostly due to ill-advised passes that resulted in turnovers.
Up until this point in the game it was clear, whoever took care of the ball on the offensive end was in control for the moment. Dallas Christian School took the lead on a fast break slam by #20 Ayden Smith and the fight was back on.
The third quarter ended without a leader, tied 43-43.
A series of back and forth attempts to begin the fourth quarter was on brand for this fast paced game, and it results in a narrow lead by the Cru with just over five minutes remaining in the ball game.
The game would see the physicality spike as the final minutes and seconds ticked away. Dallas Christian School even sustained a Coach Warning and a technical foul on #2 Bryce Belt in the final minutes as both teams clawed for literally every position, possession and point.
The technical fouls would not end there. Two more would be assessed to the coach and #1 Dylan Belt on Dallas Christian School which extended the lead out of reach.
Final Score
Bishop Gorman: 56
Dallas Christian 52
