SAN ANTONIO, Texas (TXAN 24) — New research reveals that the San Antonio Spurs rank #8 nationwide in NBA jersey popularity, averaging 23,883 monthly searches across 40 jersey-related terms — making them the top-ranked NBA team in Texas for merchandise interest.
The study, conducted by Pulsz.com, analyzed Google data from July 2024 to June 2025. It found that the Spurs outpaced in-state rivals like the Dallas Mavericks (#10, 20,727 searches) and the Houston Rockets (#26, 9,368 searches). Spurs jersey searches made up roughly 6.5% of all top 10 NBA jersey searches, reflecting the team’s enduring brand appeal even amid recent rebuilding seasons.
The Los Angeles Lakers topped the list with 68,038 searches per month, followed by the Oklahoma City Thunder (51,668) and the Golden State Warriors (46,842).
Despite stiff statewide competition from the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and Texas Rangers, the Spurs continue to hold strong in merchandise buzz — especially impressive given San Antonio’s smaller market size.
A spokesperson from Pulsz.com said, “One of the best ways to put your team on the map in American sports is through branding… and teams like the Spurs clearly still resonate with fans.”
