LUBBOCK, Texas (TXAN 24) — No. 16 Texas Tech returns home Wednesday night for a Big 12 showdown against Colorado at United Supermarkets Arena.
The Red Raiders (17-6) enter the matchup as 14.5-point favorites and continue to lean on forward J. Toppin, who is averaging 21.8 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Toppin has been one of the most consistent players in the conference, shooting 55 percent from the field while anchoring Tech on both ends of the floor.
Colorado (14-10) will counter with guard I. Johnson, who leads the Buffaloes with 16.3 points per game and is shooting nearly 50 percent from the field. The Buffs will also rely on B. Dak on the boards, averaging 6.8 rebounds per contest.
Ball movement could be a key factor in this one. Texas Tech guard C. Anderson averages 7.7 assists per game and plays nearly 39 minutes per night, setting the tempo for the Red Raiders’ offense.
With postseason positioning beginning to take shape, every conference win matters. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Lubbock as Texas Tech looks to protect its home court and continue climbing the Big 12 standings.
