FRISCO, Texas (TXAN 24) - As the 2026 Major League Volleyball Championships began on Thursday, thousands of fans of the four finalist teams descended upon Comerica Center in Frisco for some action packed matches as the season builds to a climax on Friday.

The evening began with the top-seeded Indy Ignite taking on the fourth-seeded Omaha Supernovas. The Supernovas came out in the first set with million dollar ambitions, despite being the underdog, and found a way to come out on top.

Indy instantly ignited, after losing in the first set, to take a commanding lead for the most of the second set and eventually reaching set point 25-21 to even the sets at one a piece going into the intermission. Both teams notch a set after coming back from intermission which brought the game to a winner takes all fifth set.

Omaha Supernovas pulled off the upset in the fifth set and stormed the floor at Comerica Center as they toppled the #1 Seed.
