JACKSONVILLE, Texas (TXAN 24) — A Jacksonville man says he was wrongfully assaulted during a police manhunt for someone else. Douglas Kemp, 50, told TXAN 24 News that officers arrived at his home while searching the area for someone, who had prompted a heavy law enforcement presence throughout the city.

Kemp says an officer first drove past his residence earlier in the day before returning with multiple patrol vehicles. He claims officers pulled into his yard, slammed him against a patrol car, and took him into custody. Kemp reported swelling to his face and a bump on his head.

He was released from jail later that same day and says officers offered him a ride home, which he refused. Kemp also alleges that during the incident, an officer brandished a firearm toward his two children, who witnessed the confrontation.
