ARLINGTON, Texas (TXAN 24) — The spotlight was firmly on the No. 1 pick as the Dallas Wings officially introduced rookie guard Azzi Fudd during her first press conference with the franchise, marking her opening remarks since being selected in the 2026 WNBA Draft.
Fudd, the former UConn standout and national champion, stepped into the room at Dallas Wings headquarters with head coach Jose Fernandez and general manager Curt Miller by her side, speaking for the first time as a professional about joining a roster built around a win-now core.
The 23-year-old guard, taken first overall after a standout collegiate run at University of Connecticut, kept her focus largely on basketball—highlighting her adjustment to the speed of the WNBA, her shooting role, and her excitement to reunite with former teammate Paige Bueckers in Dallas.
Fudd emphasized her priorities on court, saying her focus is on learning the system, competing for minutes, and helping Dallas climb the standings after a rebuilding stretch.
The Wings selected Fudd with the expectation she will provide immediate perimeter shooting and spacing alongside a guard-heavy roster, adding another high-level scorer to a group that already features established backcourt talent.
Fudd is set to begin training camp in the coming weeks as Dallas prepares for its most anticipated season in years, with championship expectations quietly building around its young core.
