Austin Leads Nation in 10-Year Employment Growth, Four Texas Metros Rank in National Top 12

AUSTIN, Texas (TXAN 24) — Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos ranks No. 1 nationally for employment growth among 56 major U.S. metropolitan areas, according to a new analysis from Kendra’s Boutique Inc.

The Austin metro recorded a 42.4% increase in employment over the past 10 years, along with 22.3% growth over five years and 1.9% over the past year.

Austin was the only metro in the analysis to surpass 40% employment growth over the 10-year period.

Texas also posted a strong showing overall, with four major metropolitan areas ranking among the top 12 nationally.

Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington ranked No. 8, recording 25.1% employment growth over 10 years, 14.9% over five years and 1.3% over one year.

Houston ranked No. 11 with 17.4% growth over 10 years, while San Antonio ranked No. 12 with 17.6%.

Raleigh-Cary, North Carolina, ranked second nationally with 32.6% 10-year growth, while Las Vegas, Nashville and Orlando rounded out the next three positions.

The findings highlight Texas’ continued strength across several of its largest economic centers, with Austin significantly outpacing the other major metros examined.
