7 Texas Teams in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, 3 of the First Four Games

TYLER, Texas (TXAN 24) — Here’s a look at the seven men’s basketball teams that will be dancing in March Madness from Texas:

• Texas Longhorns men’s basketball

Texas will begin in the First Four against the NC State Wolfpack men’s basketball.

• Texas A&M Aggies men’s basketball

The Aggies draw a No. 7 vs. No. 10 matchup against the Saint Mary’s Gaels men’s basketball in Oklahoma City. 

• Houston Cougars men’s basketball

Houston enters as a No. 2 seed and will open the tournament against the Idaho Vandals men’s basketball.

• Texas Tech Red Raiders men’s basketball

Texas Tech will face the North Dakota State Bison men’s basketball in the first round.

• #9 TCU Horned Frogs vs #8 Ohio State

• SMU Mustangs men’s basketball will also compete in the First Four against an undefeated Miami (OH) men’s basketball club.

• Prairie View A&M Panthers men’s basketball

is the 3rd Texas team that enters the tournament in the First Four as the SWAC representative and will open against Lehigh.

With seven teams dancing, Texas once again proves it remains one of the most talent-rich states in college basketball as March Madness tips off this week.
