TEXAS (TXAN 24) — Texas ranks among the top states in the nation for clutter-related concerns, according to a new analysis examining search behavior tied to hoarding and organization habits.

The study, conducted by storage company BOXIE24, found Texas ranks fourth nationwide, generating more than 17.3 million Google searches related to decluttering, storage solutions, and minimalist living. That translates to 54,865 searches per 100,000 residents, highlighting a growing demand for space management across the state.

Researchers say the trend reflects broader lifestyle changes, particularly in rapidly expanding urban and suburban areas. As populations grow and homes become busier, more residents are actively seeking ways to better organize their living environments.

The findings also point to a larger national issue. Studies suggest up to 14 percent of Americans exhibit some level of compulsive hoarding behavior, making clutter a widespread concern rather than an isolated one.

Experts note that hoarding often begins with everyday disorganization that gradually becomes overwhelming. In Texas, that challenge may be amplified by growing households, busy schedules, and limited space, all contributing to increased interest in practical storage and decluttering solutions statewide.
